SUMMARY:Live in the Barley Room Pub: Carl Dixon
DESCRIPTION:Carl Dixon remains one of Canada’s stellar rock voices. He’s a musician\, keynote speaker and composer. Carl’s 2026 solo album PEACED TOGETHER is a SIX-CD set showcasing his original work across multiple genres. Carl’s career began when he joined CONEY HATCH as lead singer in the 1980’s. Their debut album\, produced by Kim Mitchell\, went gold with two hits Devil’s Deck and Hey Operator. It was one heck of a ride for the young Toronto rock band\, opening for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest’s North American tours. They also opened for Peter Frampton\, Ted Nugent\, Accept\, Rush and more\, featuring on MTVs glory early years. Four decades on CONEY HATCH  has a special vinyl re-issue double album in celebration of their debut album’s anniversary. \nCarl’s written music for feature films and television series including Baywatch and Degrassi. His vocals got the attention of The Guess Who and he became lead singer  (after Burton Cummings departed that line up). Carl stayed in that role for eight years until his shocking car accident. Carl played in April Wine for four years and doubled up by opening for April Wine as well.  In 2008 a high speed car accident in Australia almost killed Carl and  left him comatose for 10 days with 52 injuries and a traumatic brain injury. He’s reshaped his life as an inspirational speaker\, author of “Strange Way to Live” – a book of his memoirs. He continues to tour extensively as a solo artist\, speaker\, duo NORTHERN STRUM and his five piece WILD NORTH ROCK show.  He’s a prolific song writer. \nCheck out his new album  “Peaced Together” an impressive anthology of his work.

SUMMARY:Live in the Barley Room Pub: Gerald McGrath
DESCRIPTION:Gerald McGrath is a singer\, multi-instrumentalist\, and songwriter from Kingston\, Ontario. After releasing his debut album\, “This is Fine” in 2023\, he’s back with his second effort\, 2025’s “Tiny Tragedy.” \nGerald describes it as\,”an album about all of the little inconveniences of life that seem bigger than they really are. And the fact that it’s ok to be unhappy about things that aren’t really a big deal.” Like the last album\, many of the songs have particular people and events in mind\, but it also branches out into more introspective and personal songwriting. “A lot of the songs on this album are actually about me\, and dealing with things that can really spiral out of control if left alone and uncared for.” Inspired by artists as wide ranging as Gord Downie\, Tycho\, The National\, Queens of the Stone Age\, and Matthew Good\, Gerald has created an album with great hooks\, hummable melodies\, and well-crafted lyrics.  \nOn ‘Tiny Tragedy’ Gerald meticulously crafted his songs piece by piece\, playing all of the instruments himself with the exception of the drums. Long time friend and excellent drummer Shayne Bampton (Betablokka) worked with Gerald to arrange and record the drum parts for the album. Guest vocalists on “Tiny Tragedy” include band member Jen Calder (The Kildeers)\, Gerald’s daughter Sophie McGrath\, and Ottawa-area folk group Wild Remedy (Colleen Mahoney\, Shay Mahoney\, and Amy Russett). In addition to Shayne and Jen\, Gerald is joined at live shows by bassist Lee Casement (Telefoto\, Lee Casement and the Magnificent Lives of Adults) and Dan McCully (Kickstand). Gerald and his band have had the great fortune of sharing a stage with many musical powerhouses\, including Joel Plaskett Emergency\, The Trews\, Terra Lightfoot\, Graven (Matty McKechnie)\, The Stephen Stanley Band\, and many others. \n“Tiny Tragedy” is available to stream everywhere now – also available on limited runs of vinyl and CD.
