Learn by experience! The Waring House recreational cooking classes are suitable for all levels of cooking expertise.  You are invited to expand your culinary repertoire, and learn new skills and chef techniques.

Each class features a particular culinary subject, food type, region, ingredient or theme.  Many of our classes feature fresh, local ingredients — some picked that day at farms just down the road from the cookery school, or from our own Waring House garden.

Thursday classes ($95 plus gratuities, plus taxes) feature a sit-down dinner and wine, while Sunday classes ($75 plus gratuities, plus taxes) focus on the lighter side, such as hors d’oeuvres, or quick and easy meals. Coming from out of town? We have great cookery school packages that include accommodation and dining.

Cookery classes can be a great team building exercise or a way to spend some time with a group of friends, relatives or business associates. We offer private classes for groups of 6 or more. For information on booking a private cooking class for your group, email our sales office.

Thursday June 27th - Vegan Cookery Class - Making Plant based food delicious! 

Umami is the magic 5th flavour that everyone is talking about. Western cuisine relies heavily on animal products to provide it. Without it, food is not nearly as delicious. Guest Chef Chris Byrne will show you how to infuse your plant-based dishes with umami,.making them lip smacking, satisfying, and irresistible! Come and learn to make Miso Soup, Umami Bomb Best Pasta with 'neat' balls, apple cake with tamarind sauce and coconut whipped cream!

Thursday, July 11, 2019 - French Seaside

Enjoy recreating some hearty favourites of the French a Coast. For starters, a crusty French bread with house made tapenade and local goat cheese. You main course of bouillabaisse soup featuring Bay of Quinte Pickerel will be a hit forever. Finally, the meal is complete with a classic crème caramel. Afterwards you can relax in the pub with live music and a glass of wine.

Sunday, July 14, 2019 - French Canadian Lunch.

This class will warm you up on a cold winter morning with French Canadian fare. Create an amazing onion and gruyere soup to begin, followed by mini tourtiere and green salad. A round of sugar tarts will complete you class, with leftovers to spare for the trip home.

Thursday, July 18, 2019 - Italian Comfort Food

expand your horizons with some comfort foods from Italy. Your first course creation is a roasted root vegetable risotto with goat cheese. Second, an herbed porchetta roast over soft polenta and greens. Finish your meal with an espresso mousse, covered in shaved chocolate and whipped cream.

Sunday, July 21, 2019 - Ultimate Burgers

Want to create the best burger you've ever tasted? How about building it from the ground up? We'll start by selecting and grinding fresh brisket, then showing off the griddle smash method. Next up we will bake some fresh brioche buns, make some homemade aioli, and top it off with local cheeses and bacon. A round of fresh cut fries or some salad to top of your perfect lunch, and you'll be the new expert next time your family asks for a burger night.

Thursday, July 25, 2019 - Mediterranean Mealtime

Enjoy creating some favourite dishes from the Mediterranean area. This class will feature marinated and roasted lamb, warm bulgur wheat salad, and traditional baklava for dessert. We will cover the region's major flavor profiles, and the ingredients that you're most likely to encounter in the region.

Want to learn the secrets to the original pizza pie? Well show you our secret recipe for the best classic pizza crust out there. Your batch of dough will make enough for two good size pizzas, and you can build them however or you want. Enjoy one here for lunch and take the second to go.
