Picton ON. 12 November 2020:  The Waring House Haunted Hotel 2020 edition was an overwhelming success, attracting over 600 people, young and not-so-young, and raising $1250.15 in support of the Prince Edward County new hospital building fund

Innkeeper  Norah Rogers, notorious for her penchant for Halloween décor,  and sidekick Krista Tevlin teamed up this year to present a COVID safe, family friendly haunted inn experience that drew record numbers to the historic inn over two weekends in October, culminating on October 31.
“We were so pleased to see the wonderful response” said Tevlin.  “Norah and I spent countless hours get the inn ready for our favourite seasonal celebrations”. Tevlin produced and staffed the second floor hotel haunting tour, which included The Witches Coven, The Asylum,  the Bridal Suite, Creepy CarnEvil and The Cemetery.

“It was such a great turnout for our annual haunting, with attendance up significantly from previous years”  said innkeeper, Norah Rogers.  A medical doctor by profession Rogers attributed this year’s success in part to local concerns for COVID safety of their children, and acknowledgement of the Waring House having been awarded the Safe Travels certification initiated by the World Travel & Tourism Council, for having adopted health and hygiene global standardized protocols.   “It’s heartening to know that our community feels safe while visiting with us” Rogers said.  “We have invested heavily in state of the art electrostatic sanitation sprayers, UV lighting for air systems, PPE for staff and have quite rigid COVID protocols in place for everyone’s protection.”

Haunted Hotel guided tours were free, with donations collected for the new Prince Edward County hospital build fund.  While awaiting their turn to tour the COVID safe haunted hotel, families and individuals were thrilled by the animitronics and spooky decorations positioned throughout the inn’s pub and dining rooms.  Plans for the 2021 Haunted Hotel are already underway.

The Waring House Restaurant, Inn, Conference Centre & Cookery School is located in the heart of Prince Edward County.  The inn boasts The Barley Room Pub, a bustling gastro pub presenting live music Tuesday through Sunday, and Amelia’s Garden Dining Room, where seasonal and regional cuisine is always on the menu!  With 49 guest rooms, stunning gardens, a large banquet hall, and an onsite cookery school, The Waring House is a sought after destination for meetings, weddings and special events.
